Legacy Rich Text Editor Deprecation
Sitecore has announced the deprecation of the legacy rich text editor in XM Cloud Pages, effective May 8th, 2025. For long-time Sitecore users, this signals a major step toward modernising the platform.
Why is this significant? The new editor offers a smoother, more efficient editing experience, saving time and reducing frustration for content authors. However, it does mean that developers must ensure their applications are ready by upgrading to JSS version 21.5.2 or later.
Getting started: If you’re already on a compatible version, switching is simple: adjust an environment variable and redeploy your application. Full details can be found in the Developer Portal changelog entry.

ASP.NET Core SDK Now in Public Alpha
For developers in the ASP.NET ecosystem, Sitecore’s announcement on November 17th, 2024, is a game-changer. The ASP.NET Core SDK is now available in public alpha for XM Cloud.
Why is this significant? This SDK bridges the gap for .NET developers, allowing them to leverage their preferred tools and workflows while seamlessly integrating with XM Cloud. It’s a testament to Sitecore’s commitment to inclusivity in developer tooling.
Component A/B/n Testing Goes Live
Since the launch of XM Cloud, users have eagerly awaited built-in A/B and multivariate testing capabilities. Now, as of Sitecore Symposium 2024, Component A/B/n Testing is live for XM Cloud customers.
Why is this significant? Marketing teams and decision-makers can now optimise their digital experiences directly within XM Cloud, without needing additional tools like Sitecore CDP or Personalize. This streamlines testing workflows and enhances the value of XM Cloud as a standalone solution.
Requirements:
Use JSS SDK version 22.1 or later.
Ensure no active personalization is configured on the page (A/B tests and personalization are mutually exclusive).
Assign an analytics identifier.
These updates are more than just technical enhancements—they’re a reflection of Sitecore’s dedication to its community. Whether you’re a developer excited about new tooling, a marketer thrilled by expanded testing capabilities, or a content creator embracing modern editors, these changes are tailored to make your Sitecore experience better. Stay ahead by keeping your platform and tools up-to-date to fully embrace these innovations.
